Mersin "with its short history" is much less known compared to many other Anatolian cities of thousands of years and therefore facing problems in expressing herself. There is more information about the archeological ages compared to the recent historical period of the city which has its distinctive characteristics and which emerged at the historical cross point of Ottoman modernization and the world's changing economical system. It was found out during the research and studies that there were very limited number of researches carried out by history researchers about the recent history of and the city herself which is remembered with a melancholic nostalgia.
